Brian Anderson
Coach Brian Anderson is the Head Coach of both the Boys & Girls Water Polo Programs at Huntington Beach High School. Prior to Brian returning to the Oilers to coach his Alma Mater, he was the Assistant Coach of Swim and Water Polo at Whittier College, a program that has been consistently ranked # 1 in NCAA Division III. Coach Anderson also had stints as the Assistant Coach of Huntington Beach for Water Polo & Swim and with the La Mirada Armada Water Polo Club, where he qualified the club's first ever JO team. He is also currently the Head Coach of the Huntington Beach Water Polo Club Boys 18 & 16 under teams. His teams currently compete in the highest level tournaments in different parts of the country and world. Last year Coach Anderson took a team in Eger & Budapest in Hungary and Slovakia. More recently his team went to Split Croatia and was able to play against Croatian top level clubs, against players who will play on the Croatia Senior National Team. Coach Anderson was also Olympic Development Coach at the 8th Grade Level in the SOPAC Zone. He is currently the Head Coach for the SOPAC 10th Grade Boys ODP Team and has participated in National Events such as the USAWP Holiday Camp working with the Technical Directors of the USA Water Polo System and style of play. In a short time players from the HB program are playing water polo at top level institutions.
Sasa Branisavljevic
Coach Sasa is the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Boys & Girls Water Polo Teams. Sasa is from Serbia where he competed internationally with his Club VK Spartak. He played for the club's Senior team where he played in the LEN Cup. Sasa has played in tournaments in Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Greece, and Italy. Sasa came to the United States in order to play college water polo where he competed with Long Beach City College. Currently Sasa also is the Head Coach of the Huntington Beach Water Polo Club 12-under Boys Team. Coach Branisaveljevic regularly has his boys team playing at a high level competing in championship games in several renown tournaments. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to teams and is an asset to the program. He offers his players some of the best fundamental development our sport has to offer and we hare happy to have him as a part of our community.
Uros Dzelebdzic
Uros is a coach of the FS and JV Boys Teams at Huntington Beach High School. Uros is from Serbia where he played competitive water polo at a young age against some of the best talent the country has to offer. He came to the USA to play polo, where he played for Golden West College and achieved a runner up finish with the Rustlers in the State Championship. He next played for Long Beach City College, and received a scholarship to play at Division II Queens College in New York. Uros also coaches for the Huntington Beach Water Polo Club. His teams have traditionally been very competitive being national ranked in the National Junior Olympic Competitions. His coaching resume includes 12th place 16u boys, 9th place 14u boys, 6th place 12u boys, 5th & 3rd place 16u girls. He currently serving as the Head Age Group Director of the Huntington Beach Water Polo Club and is the Head Coach of the Boys 14u Team.
Djoko Radunovic
Djoko was born and raised in Montenegro and played with V.K. Primorac since the age of 8 for 10 years .During that time his team captured numerous top three finishes including a couple of national titles. He played for the cadet and junior national team of what used to be Serbia and Montenegro and then later only Montenegro. Djoko finished his senior year of high school at San Bernardino High School where he won athlete of the year award. In the United States Djoko also played for Chris Oeding at LBCC. The team at LBCC managed to capture 2 conference and one state championship. Both years at LBCC Djoko managed to make first team all conference, first team all So Cal, first team All American, and in his second year was also named South Coast Confernce MVP. He now coaches with the Huntington Beach Water Polo Club where s oversees the 10u team and also assists with all the other competitive Boys' teams.
Tasman Backer - Head Swim Coach - Assistant Girls Varsity Water Polo Coach
Tasman is a coach for the girls polo program at Huntington Beach. She is a graduate of Huntington Beach High School, where she is a 4 year letter winner in swim, and 3 year letter winner for the water polo team. She is a member of the school record team for the 4 x 50 free relay. After graduating Huntington, she played water polo and swam at Orange Coast College. She was a member of a water polo team that competed for the State Championship every year, as well as a two-time State Champion in swim. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the girls program. Tasman is also the Head Girls Swim coach at Huntington Beach High School. Her goal is to bring the program to new heights and develop a long lasting swim tradition at her Alma Mater
Alex Hart - FS & JV Coach - Assistant Varsity Swim Coach
Alex graduated from Huntington Beach high school 2008. She was a 3 year letter man for water polo in which her team made the CIF Playoffs each of her years on the varsity squad. Alex also swam 3 years for the Oiler Swim Team. She then went on to play water polo at for OCC 1 season and then transfered to GW for 1 season. In 2009, her Golden West Team won a State Championship. She Currently attending school at Concordia University and plays for the womens team.
